What GolfWRXers are saying about the best older hybrids  – GolfWRX

In our forums, our members have been discussing older hybrids. WRXer ‘akronswitness’ recently played with a Nike Covert hybrid and was blown away with the results, saying:

“Played the other day with a friend’s old, beat up Nike Covert 3H, and I absolutely crushed it. It was my first time really using a hybrid, and I hit a bunch of great straight, easy shots with it. Even planted one about 5-6ft from the pin from 220 out. Something my 4i definitely cannot do.

I’ve received advice on here in the past about hybrids. Most people are saying to go for the G410 or the Apex UW. The problem is those are still going for $220-$280, and that is a little bit too much for me to spend on a single club that I will probably only hit 3-4x per round. I also wanted something a little newer than the 10+ year old Nike hybrid.

Can anybody recommend to me a 3H that was really good years ago that I could get for relatively cheap, maybe off eBay or 2nd swing?”

And our members have been sharing their top suggestions in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

I second the Covert vrs Hibbys from a bad hubby hitter – I smoke them, and the fairways. At least the vrs tours crunch like no other. feel like marshmallows and fairly forgiving.

“Hibbys”? “hubby”? My man went totally out of his way to eliminate a letter or two to create his own pet name for a Hybrid.

Callaway Golf has today unveiled the new Apex Black irons — a forged iron designed with artificial intelligence for maximum ball speeds presented in a sleek Black Plasma PVD Finish.

The clubs feature an A.I.-designed Flash Face Cup, with the unique A.I. architecture in each iron designed to create high ball speeds and increased spin robustness across the face.

Callaway has also implemented its Tungsten Energy Core into the irons, with 5x the tungsten of Apex 19, allowing engineers to precisely position the Center of Gravity to promote excellent launch and added forgiveness on off-center shots.

The Apex Black is 100% forged from a 1025 mild carbon steel body, with the brand’s patented urethane microspheres designed to deliver exceptional sound and feel at impact.

The stock shaft for the new Apex Black is a True Temper Elevate MPH 95 Black Shaft, and the grip is Golf Pride Z Grip Soft (Black). Additionally, steel custom options are available at no upcharge, and other graphite options are available as custom offerings.

The new clubs are available at retail from September 30, 2022, and are priced at $215 per club/steel and $229.98 per club/graphite (Stock graphite shaft is the UST Recoil Dart Black 75) .
